The Entry Guide!

Several months back, I did a live webinar on The Entry and how to make an impact upon arrival. It was fun, informative and stretched my skills. Sadly, we had a zoom issue w/ the recording and it couldn’t be recovered. But, I got inventive, took all my notes and slides, and turned the presentation into a pdf guide, which actually has more information now.

You may be thinking, Libra, everyone has a how-to guide these days. What’s the deal and why do I care?

I’m glad you asked!

Number one, I wrote it, so you know it will be infused with my authenticity, enthusiasm and dashing wit.

What? You want more than my effervescent charm?

No hard feelings here. Keep reading!

My ethos around design has been to inspire others to tap into their own creativity. I remember when I opened librastudio in 2013, and one of my very first projects was working with Mitzi & Abe. They were a fabulous retired couple, and since we’re friends, I’ll tell you this. Mitzi rocked a bedazzled jean jacket like no one I’ve seen. And Abe’s impressive tennis body at 85, wow! He was always, “Nothing’s too good for my Mitzi.” I loved them right away. Anyway, the first day we’re getting started, I’m pulling out my paint decks and Elle Decoration mags (UK edition are the best, imo). She’s just watching me. I’m talking about the design process, landing on the right colors, what does she like/ not like, asking her all the questions. She looks right at me and says, “But I don’t know what I like. Can’t you just tell me what to do?”.

She wanted a HGTV-kinda designer, that comes in shooting from the hip. Instead, she got me, a sensitive, how-does-this-make-you-feel-designer. Still, we made it work and by the end of the project, Mitzi & Abe were thinking about their home in a whole new way.

When you fully engage in the design process, transformation can occur- for you and your space. And that’s what interior design is all about.

I hope this Entryway Guide will inspire you and maybe even spark some transformation. Let me know how it goes.
