Design Activism

If you want your home to feel better, you must take action. Change your perspective and you shift the energy. Rearrange the art. Bring in a fresh color. Move stuff around till it feels better. Creating a home you love and that loves you back is not vanity, it's part of your well-being. #deepthoughtswithlibra

Almost Spring

Lightbulbs

Think LED bulbs are cold and yellow-y and unflattering? Think again! These fantastic light bulbs from Lightstory are so warm and inviting and somehow they're even a bit more energy efficient than that standard LED's. (No, I don't remember how- that's not the point.)

I'm also very into our wireless Philips Hue lighting. Their Bloom light is especially great for uplighting plants. The pictures below make our house look like a soft jazz disco. And I'm thinking, "Is that so wrong?"

Ladder shelves

I'm starting something new, keeping things small and useful- Microblog Mondays!

To kick it off, I present to you, the Ladder Shelf. It leans, has shelves to hold things, and provides some visual height to a room. The problem begins once you start living your life. Those open shelves quickly become a messy vortex of bullshitery. Depending on where this item goes in your house, the Ladder Shelf can vacillate between well-meaning pretty display area or serious over-promiser of function. Either way, I don't recommend them.

Case Study below. See you next week! xo Libra
