A green beginner-esque attitude towards life will keep you young looking. Seriously. Okay, no I can’t guarantee that, but self-delusion in moderation supports this theory.

Green is my favorite color. Once I thought it was grey. Or red. But I was wrong. It’s definitely green.
Plants are green. I love plants and have a lot of them.
Plants require attention and maintenance. Aside from simple watering, how about turning on some classical beats or Solfeggio harmonics in the evening? Your green babies will be flowering and blooming like crazy business! Plants like long walks and sunsets, too. But who has that kind of time? Not me.
Talking to your plants isn’t required. Maybe at first when you bring them home and you’re just getting to know each other. That’s appropriate. But after the first week or two, they can pretty much read your mind, so talking to them is almost insulting.
Be careful where you tread! I once had a Monstera leaf gouge my nose hole while I sang him a song and watered his soil. My singing must've been off key …i don't know. We never really talked it through.
If you’ve given plants a fair shake but they just won’t shake back- no matter how hard you shook, which was probably pretty hard, because they just wouldn’t effing grow!- FAUX plants may be your answer. You’ll get the look and feel of oxygen & health, without all of the hassle. hehe.
Here are 3 must-do’s for creating a verdant illusion of you own.
Good $tuff: Look for soft silicone-like specimens, with plump petals and parts. Succulents, vines, large leaves, stalks and branches. Remember, silk flowers don't fool anyone.
Co-existence: To achieve the highest visual believability, the faux must be integrated with the real. One or two living plants mixed in or amoung the faux is all it takes.
Upkeep: The faux stuff collects dust. It sits there day after day, never moving, growing, living…asking nothing from you- which of course, is everything. Give your faux friends a rinse off every 1- 2 months and the relationship will continue gloriously for as long as you choose.
The color green is considered to be the most tranquil. I think it’s also the friendliest.
be it through plants, fabric, paint, or just inexperience, there’s a shade of green for everyone.
want your home to be more green? let’s talk!
Art Game
Yesterday I had lunch with a client who’s become a friend- I love when this happens! Naturally we got to talking about decorating, my favorite subject that I never seem to tire of.
She: I’ve been really intent on finding a great piece of art for our living room. It’s so hard!
Me: I know!. It’s one of those things that you always find when you’re not looking. Like love. And shoes.
She: So true!
Me: There are few hot galleries in SF to check out. I’ll send you the names. Also a new online source- Saatchi- that looks really cool.
She: Oh, yeah! You got their catalog, too! I was impressed! Do you know if they’re the same as the Saatchi Gallery in London?
Me: Probably, maybe. [I really need to go to London.]
I felt rather foolish. Of course she had seen the same catalog. We’re in the same demographic. We shop at the same stores. Which was all fine and well- it was a pleasant lunch date after all and we were having a great time. But I wasn’t done w/ this subject. No sir. On my drive home, I engaged in a sufficient amount of kicking myself and a little gentle berating for good measure. And then I agreed that I needed to up my Art game.
And by upping my Art game, I mean compile a good directory to share!
Art is essential, evocative and makes a room feel personal. When a project is nearing the end and the budget is spent, art and accessories are almost always the things that get cut. Too often this means I don’t get to see the design in it’s fullest glory.
So here’s some great places to find artwork.
May you get inspired, excited, and find pieces that grab you. May you also send me a photo so I can see what you bought and be able to sleep well knowing that you followed our design scheme.

Plants!
I found this article while doing my daily peruse on Pinterest:
5 things that take a room from good to great. Listed at #2, are house plants (the right rug is #1). I’m always encouraging all my clients to hop on the plant wagon. "But I kill plants", you say.
Not to worry! For you of the black thumb varieties, I recommend the Sansevieria.
This is the heartiest houseplant I've ever found. It will grow in almost any condition and barely needs water. When you walk in the door after being away for three weeks, this plant will still be alive. Not only alive, it will be thriving. Low light or no light? No problem. This is as low maintenance a houseplant as you'll ever find. In fact, the Sansevieria could be the Dalai Lama of the plant world: peaceful, selfless, with very little material need or demand.
If you do alright with plants, in that they don't die on you and you remember to water when necessary, then the world is your oyster!...the greenhouse, your playground!...the forest, your field
remember- plants can take a room from good to great. they are not a fix-all for a poorly planned room.
let’s plan your next project together!
