I found this article while doing my daily peruse on Pinterest: 5 things that take a room from good to great. It is a spot-on article that names house plants as the #2 thing and I am in total agreement.
I'm always urging clients to hop on the plant wagon. "But I kill plants", they say.
Not to worry! For you of the black thumb varieties, I recommend the Sansevieria.
This is the heartiest houseplant I've ever found. It will grow in almost any condition and barely needs water. When you walk in the door after being away for three weeks, this plant will still be alive. Not only alive, it will be thriving. Low light or no light? No problem. This is as low maintenance a houseplant as you'll ever find. In fact, more than that, I believe the Sansevieria could be the Dalai Lama of the plant world: peaceful, self-less, and with very little material need or demand.
If you do alright with plants, in that, they don't die on you and you remember to water when necessary, then the world is your oyster...or the nursery is your playground...or the forest is your field. I don't know, whatever.
What I do know is design. And sure, you're space will be just fine without some plant life. But why go for good, when you can have GREAT!?!
